The GS-HPC Community Research Fellows Program trains community members to be good consumers of research, enabling them to form more equal and effective partnerships with academic researchers and to conduct evidence-based research to improve health in their communities. The program also promotes the role of underserved populations in research by enhancing the capacity for community based participatory research.
The Fellows program includes instruction in: evidence based public health; research methods and data; health disparities; cultural competency; family health history; health literacy; introduction to epidemiology; community health; quantitative methods; community based participatory research; qualitative methods; photovoice; health policy; program evaluation; research ethics; human subjects’ certification; clinical trials; and grantwriting.
